Precise Measurement of Dimensions
Pug dogs have short and stocky bodies, thick necks, short limbs, and relatively large chest circumferences. It is necessary to accurately measure the back length (from the neck to the base of the tail), chest circumference (around the body from behind the two front legs), and neck circumference (around the neck). Select according to the clothing size chart. The clothing should be loose to avoid tightness that may affect movement and breathing.
Pay Attention to Material Characteristics
- Breathability: Pug dogs have sensitive skin and are prone to skin problems. Choose breathable materials such as cotton, which is beneficial for skin respiration and reduces the risk of skin diseases. In summer or during exercise, breathable clothing can keep them cool and comfortable.
- Warmth – Retention: In cold seasons, choose wool, down, or clothing with inner linings for warmth. For example, in the northern winter, they can wear double – sided furry four – legged clothing to keep out the cold.
- Softness: The material should be soft and skin – friendly, without irritating the skin. Avoid hard or rough materials that may rub the skin and cause discomfort or allergies.

Select Appropriate Styles
- Daily – Wear Styles: For daily wear, simple pullovers or vest – style clothes are suitable as they are easy to put on and take off. In spring and autumn, thin cotton pullovers are both comfortable and practical.
- Warm – Keeping Styles: In winter, choose one – piece four – legged clothing with a hat, and that is fleece – lined and thickened to provide comprehensive warmth and prevent the abdomen and back from getting cold.
- Special – Function Styles: Choose raincoats made of waterproof materials on rainy days; on snowy days, choose clothing and shoes that are windproof, warm – keeping, and have anti – slip soles.

Consider Color Matching
For pugs with dark fur (such as black), choose bright – colored clothing (such as white, pink) to create a contrast; for those with light – colored fur (such as light tan, apricot), choose dark – colored clothing (such as blue, black) to look more sophisticated; for silver – colored pugs, choose clothing in similar colors such as gray and white.
Emphasize Ease of Putting On and Taking Off
Pug dogs may not cooperate when dressing. Choose clothing with zippers or hook – and – loop fasteners for easy putting on and taking off. Avoid complicated button or lacing designs to save time and energy.
